A little support makes a big difference

Finding time for your own physical health

As a carer, it can be easy to put the other person’s needs first and ignore your own.

Make sure you eat a balanced diet to help maintain your energy levels. Asking the person you care for to participate in preparing nutritious meals might be one way of keeping healthy and staying connected.

Making time for regular exercise and physical activity can also be tricky. See if you can regularly prioritise gardening, walking together or other little things that help promote an active lifestyle.

If you have regular help with caregiving, find a regular fitness class through your local leisure centre, or stay active with work or volunteering.

It is also important to see your doctor regularly about your health.
