A little support makes a big difference

Seek out practical support

Caring for a person with dementia can be rewarding and challenging. It is important to give yourself permission to reach out and accept help.

Getting help can make it more sustainable for you to provide the best support to the person you care for. You may want to explore:

  • In-home care
  • Employer benefits
  • Government benefits, including allowances and pensions
  • Ordering groceries online or through a delivery service
  • Support groups
  • Getting help around the house from family, friends or professionals
  • Financial or legal help, so you can do some planning for the future while the person you care for can actively participate
  • Practical information and resources specifically for carers via the carer gateway: carergateway.gov.au
